Day Ten

So being Hmong, while growing up, eating chili fish sauce is a norm.  Add chili, lemon, fish sauce with mangos or lemons or whatever...man...your mouth just...yum...I guess you can compare it to a running faucet?

Anyways, the reason why I'm stating that is because...well here's the story.  My cousin is having her first baby and I wanted to see if I can get some fabric to make receiving blankets.  I googles a place near my workplace and it said that there was one on fourth street.  I got in my car and wow...it looked like downtown L.A...just a minni me version.  And...and...can you believe it?  I had to pay for parking.  It was just .75 cents but wow...it surprised me.  Anyways, I was was walking everywhere trying to find this small little fabric store and oh my goose, people really don't know their surrounding.  Let's just say I had a nice excises during my lunch hour.  Finally, right when I've about to give up, out pops the store.  Kind of like Harry Potter-ish.  = ) I walked in, and it was horrible.  Nothing!

I was hot, parched, and agitated because whoever said it was a really good store...LIED!!!  Anyways, they had street food vendors there, just like L.A...and guess what I got?

Mangos with chili and salt with a wedge of L-E-M-O-N!!!  I was sooooo happy.  I forgot the crappy store and was happy.  I also stopped by Starbucks.  For me: winter time is: caramel machiato or caramel brule and during hot times: vientie iced green tea sweetened...yes....well...enjoy this mouth watering treat...

P.S.
I was stuck in traffic and had enough time to capture this...beautiful isn't it?

Day Nine

So growing up in Orange County, we never ever get to see the four seasons.  Well, I walk everyday at work and deciced to bring my camera with me.  I wanted to show you what we get during winter.  And let me tell you ...it sure is pretty.  What do you think?  Oh, and with our smog, everything is soooo much better.  On a clear day, the mountains are sooo pretty with the snow on top...today, even my camer couldn't pick up the image clearly...smog oh smog, we so don't like you.  Enjoy: OC Winter.

Day Seven & Eight

Heeelllllooooo people.  I'm back and ready.  So this is going to be my day 7 & 8...

Well, last night my blog was supposed to be about our dinner.  My wonderful husband than, another story today, made dinner. Girls, you know what I mean.  Anyways, he bought some nice pieces of steak and grilled.  My sis-n-law Judy made the veggies.

So going on, just look at the photo and "Need I say more?".

I had to do a before and after photo...yum...it was a yummy night.

Day Eight

I love it when I see my work framed.  It just...I can't explain it.  It's like an author getting their book published for the very first time.  well, here is what I have so far in my room. next step is to get the rest of my work up on the wall. until next time.

Day Six

Good night for right now.  I'm beat.  Just a quick posting: we went to see Koob's grandma and we went to sit down and didn't see this kitty.  Luckily it moved or else we would've been clawed at.  The picture is grainy-I need to work on it but this time, it added a nice effect I thought.  Enjoy and sweet dreams.

Day Five-there's something wrong with this site because it keeps on inserting my photos wrong...

CHECK MY FACEBOOK FOR PHOTOS...IT'S MESSING UP MY PHOTOS...

So I'm exhausted!  Today is Nalee's grandmother's funeral.  We woke up early and cooked, and cooked, and cooked, and cooked.  Just got home maybe thirty minutes ago.  I really didn't want to do this post until tomorrow but I have to.  Come on PFY!!!

Okay, pep talk over...

So my sis-n-law was feeding baby and decided to take tons and tons of photo.  Why not.  She's a month and a half and she's already cooing and conversing and smiling.  She's so cute.  Oh, guess what?  She sure has a temper...but her sweetness always gets us.  I was in her face shooting away and her face just changes.  Just take a look for  yourself.

So, I haven't seen my little NaiNai in such a long time.  I love her sooooo much and she's soooooooooooo dear to me.  Faith will always be my little baby.  Well, Friday night Koob and I went over to my parents and I was just enjoying my little Auntie/Niece time.  Her mom want photos of her in hmong clothing so I said why not.  She's my most favorite-I MEAN MOST FAV-ORITE model of all time.  I can just shoot and shoot and she's just...I love her.  Well, we were watching little mermaid and she somehow got into this whole phase of:

That yours?

Faith: Auntie, that your makeup?
Me: No, that's her's.
Faith: Oh.
(5 sec)
Faith: Auntie, that your comb?
Me: No, that her's
Faith: Oh
(3 sec)
Faith: That mermaid fishy?
Me: Yes
Faith: Oh

Faith: Auntie?
Me: Yes NaiNai.
Faith: I miss you Auntie Pee-Fwa

Me (My heart breaks because I MISS HER SOOOOO MUCH!!!): I miss you too baby. Auntie loves you!

Ahhhh...I miss her so much.  I used to get to see her everyday and now...I just miss her...

Here are some of my favorites: & did I mention this little one means the world to me?  She's only 2.

Auntie loves you baby girl.

Day Four

Happy Friday!  So, I made a deal with Koob.  Usually during my lunch time at work, I'll go out and window shop just because I'm bored and have an hour.  By the time you know it, window shopping has become actual shopping and...oh no...one thing comes to mind: Koob.  So I told Koob that if I have a book to keep me occupied, I'll be a good girl and sit in my car and just read.  So our deal is: when one book is finished, he'll let me get another book.  = )  It's not that Koob is one of those controlling Hmong guys, it's just that, he's better with money.  I say it's a great thing, that's how Koob and I balance each other out.  He's better at money managing and I'm better at spending it.  I'm better at being a brat and he has longer patience.  = )  See we balance each other out...I'm such a brat...he keeps me spoiled but he knows I keep him spoiled too.  Just ask him, go ahead.  He'll first deny than he'll say: "Yes, she keeps me spoiled too."  Anyways, today I was being good and sat in my car during lunch time.  I had my camera with me and said, "Why not?".

I'm a four-eyed book worm.  I put my glasses on my dashboard and decided to take a picture.  I decided to zoom in on my glasses and focus solely on my glasses and I looked at the photo and had to take a 2nd glance.  See for yourself why?

Yup, you guessed it.  I thought it was super cool.  You can actually see through my glasses!!!  How crazy is that?  I thought it was a pretty cool concept.

Well, with anybody who wears glasses, it sucks because you have to have an eye glass case for your 'seeing' glasses and one for your sunglasses.  Sucks but oh well.  I brought out my big coke bottle sunglasses.  Koob really don't like them but I do.  What to know why?  Because I got them for $5 at Cotton...yup...love them.  Guess what time of the day that I purchased them?  Yup, right again...during my lunch hour on a weekday.  This is soooo fun. =)

So, I call this series of photos my: Bookworm Aftermath
Why?  Because of reading so much, my eyes are horrible.  Plus, I've re-read this book so many times that it doesn't even have the hardback cover to it anymore...and yes...it's: Breaking Dawn.  Enjoy my photos.

Day Three

Today's topic: Bokeh

From Wikipedia
In photography, bokeh (pronounced /bɒkɛ/[1]) is the blur,[2][1] or the aesthetic quality of the blur,[3][4][5] in out-of-focus areas of an image, or "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light."[6] Differences in lens aberrations and aperture shape cause some lens designs to blur the image in a way that is pleasing to the eye, while others produce blurring that is unpleasant or distracting—"good" and "bad" bokeh, respectively.[2] Bokeh occurs for parts of the scene that lie outside the depth of field.

So, I've been study-ing!!!  Scary huh?  Okay, so I've learned a technique on how to use an ambient light on your main subject while including outside lights...okay never mind.  I've learned a trick and I've never used this setting on my camera before but I will now on use it.  Again, I'm very basic in my photography knowledge and usage but today...I stepped out of the box.  I set my camera to P and upped the iso to: sorry I forgot...I just got really excited when I saw my images in the play back screen.  I know, I know...Anyways, I'm am so excited.  I rushed home from work, hoping to catch some setting sunlight and barely made it.  As you will see, there's sunlight to pitch black.  Well my hubby came home right when I was done editing and he was like:

Who's work is that?
I took it.
No you didn't.
Yes I did.

Jacob comes over:
Oh, so that was what you were doing.

Koob:
Yaay!!!  Keep up the great job honey...RE-TIRE-MENT!

Check them out...I don't know if it's bad bokeh or good.  I'm just excited it came out exactly as how I wanted it to.

P.S. I know this was supposed to be black and white but I had to show the amazing sunset from our back yard and I had to share...plus some photos from last night's dinner...we went out to black angus for Jacob's bday and baby Anneliese was too cute in her bear jacket.  The drink was awesome: rasberry-strawberry leomande...yum...

Day Two

Good afternoon everybody.  Today feels like a lazy day and those days are the most awe-some-est!!!  Had breakfast with the family and now just chilling drinking coffee and baby sitting one of the cutest little ones: Anneliese...

With so much time, not, I decided to go ahead and get today's post out of the way.

My baby sis-n-law...Pang Kou...just got back into town from,  you guessed it, New York City baby.  She came over this morning bearing gifts.  Yayyyy!!!  Anyways, we all know that fashion over in New York is sooo, soo, hip?  I can't find the right word, but she said that everything over there now is just vintage like outfits.  Wish I was there with my camera.  Man oh man the possibilities.  Well, she came back with this.  It's a head wrap.  It's knitted with a little bling in the middle.  I LOVE IT...the only worry now is if I can rock it?  We'll see...Isnt' it awesome.  I love intricate little details...so simple but so lovely.  I had to share...

Well, with my actual posting, I thought I'll write about make-up.  I LOVE LOVE LOVED makeup while growing up.  Remember those pencil thin eyebrows?  You would pluck and pluck and pluck and than draw in your eyebrows with those black eye liners?  In addition, those nude lips with black or dark brown lip liners.  Yup...those were the days.  Well, I was a make up user from the very small age of maybe 11 or 12 to my sophomore year in high school.  I just woke up one morning and decided, no more.  I went bare all these years and even forgot how to apply on makeup.  It never really bothered me.  Koob loved me being bare faced because he doesn't have to deal with waiting for me while getting ready for our dates.  Well, now, for some darn reason, I'm falling back in love with makeup and being a girly-girl.  Why?  Who knows or maybe one word: Kristin, my niece.  She is really awesome with makeup.  She told me about a girl on YouTube called Michelle Phan and bam...I was bitten again.  Koob's beginning to worry because he now has to wait for me to get ready but it's okay, he always likes what he sees.  Well, here's a photo of my finished product, an eye shadow palette I bought for only $10 from E.L.F. and loving it and a photo of my niece...my makeup inspiration.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year!  Sorry...it's actually January 4th...sorry been MIA.  I've had a busy fun schedule these past few days and loving every single minute of it.  Every year, my church gets together and count down the new year together.  It's become tradition at our little church and it wouldn't be new years  if it didn't start off there.  We had a few laughs ate some great pho and it was endless.  We prayed and than just went around hugging each other being thankful and blessed for everyone there.  It was awesome.

That day, new years day, my hubby and I went on our little mini vacation: Williams, Az.  It was beautiful.  It was located directly on the historical Route 66...it was charming, rustic, romantic, and YES...SOOOOOOOOO laid back.  With growing up in OC, laid back is something we only hoped for and rarely get. = )  Koob and I went to the Grand Canyon and it was breath taking.  The snow was just so pretty.  Usually every year, Koob tries to take me to the snow and we'll make our way up to Big Bear but most of the time it's man made snow.  Not here.  Guys, go visit Williams, Arizona because it's soooooo gorgeous during winter time and trust me, the snow, all hand made by God. = )

So, also with growing up in the O.C., we've never really seen any real snowflakes.  The closest I've ever seen a snow flake is the one you cut up from a white 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.  Pretty sad.  In addition, I keep on hearing about how each snowflake doesn't come down looking all the same but in differ shapes and sizes.  I never really believed that until this trip.  Koob and I packed up all of our stuff to come back home and this is what greeted us.  God is awesome.  So guys, the saying is true, snowflakes do come in all differ shapes and sizes.

So, here is my official post for the New Year.  Happy New Years guys from the Great Grand Canyon...and thanks Abba for everything.  Keep watching over us.
